A view of how the Jews respect the Torah.

I have seen in videos and within newspapers and books, pictures of Jewish men kissing the Torah as it is being carried to and from the wall in Jerusalem. I also noticed that they do not let their lips touch the Torah, but that they use their prayer cloth or some other piece of clothing to keep themselves separate from defiling the Torah.
Here is a picture of the Torah being held high for the all those praying near by to see. What I did not know is, if he would drop the Torah, all those around would be asked to fast.
The next picture is bringing the new Torah. At times the older Torah may need repair, or replacement do to age. You can see the safety, and pomp that goes with the new Torah.

Why don't Christians do the same with the Bible? Jews have been accused of Torah idolatry, but at least they are observing God's word. During WWII, so many precious Torahs were destroyed by the Nazis. Some Christians do exhibit the same love and affection for God's word, I have seen the Chinese who finally get their hands on a Bible. To see them hold the Bible to their chest, and many times kiss it, it is much like the Jews with the way they respect the Torah.

God's word is food for the soul. The Bible is not just a book to those who believe, but a life training manual, a way for God to communicate. Have you opened your Bible or Torah lately? God is waiting to meet you there.
